Meet the Minister

Rev Christine Gilbert Christine Gilbert has been at home in the community of faith since she first toddled into the crèche of a German-speaking congregation in her hometown in Southwest Michigan, USA. Her early involvements included such things as leading Sunday School, singing in choirs, and serving as the spiritual advisor on student council at her Catholic High School.

Christine did her post-graduate studies at Western Theological Seminary and was ordained in the Reformed Church in America in 1995. In 2010 Christine was received as a minister in the United Church of Christ, a sister denomination to the Uniting Church in Australia.

Since ordination, Christine has served as a minister within a congregation, interim minister, and an editor on the Seasons of the Spirit development team. Upon arriving in Australia in March 2011, Christine took on the role of coordinator at the Effective Living Centre, Christ Church Uniting in Wayville where she remained until coming to St. Andrews.

Christine is passionate about creative worship and life-long faith formation. She often uses the arts to engage faith — her own and others. Christine is an avid reader and writer, especially historical novels and poetry. She loves to explore nature, walk labyrinths, and travel wherever — especially with her husband Sean Gilbert.
